RAILROADS IN WARTIME - VOL. 3 (VHS)
SKU: WAR3
The three-volume Railroads in Wartime Series features an entertaining variety of classic films produced during World War II and the Korean War to showcase the importance of American Railroads.
VOLUME III presents Loaded for War, a color film produced by the Santa Fe railroad during World War II. Opening with a montage of steam and early diesels in action, the film then describes the construction of ships and tanks, and shows the movement of materiel to points of embarkation. The rebuilding of 2-8-2 3723 from a rusting "old slobberbucket" into a practically new locomotive is a highlight of this exciting program, along with double- and triple-headed steam runbys and E1 and FT diesel locomotives. A featurette on the making of the famous war movie Von Ryan's Express concludes this fine program.
Running time: 30 minutes *VHS* Color and B/W 16mm sound films.
