Memories of the Susquehanna Railroad (VHS)
SKU: SUS
This action-packed program features the Susie-Q in the late fifties and early sixties, with the emphasis on passenger trains! Many scenes of Alco diesels pulling stainless-steel and standard coaches are included, along with RDCs and freight trains, primarily on the eastern end of the line.
You'll also visit Edgewater yard, tour the Little Ferry shop complex, ride a 1942 Boy Scout excursion pulled by one of the first RS1s, and watch the GP20 demonstrator units in action. There are also views of the new GP18s being delivered, along with a rare scene of steam on the North Hawthorne turntable. Freight action includes lashups with as many as five Alco units, and you'll see a clip of a Lehigh & New England four-unit FA-powered train at Hainesburg.
This previously-unreleased footage compliments our full documentary, Susquehanna Spectacular which presents a complete history of the line. A perfectly synchronized, recreated soundtrack adds an amazing degree of realism to this fine program.
