MEMORIES OF LACKAWANNA DIESELS offers a nostalgic portrait of the Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad in the early 1960s, featuring a variety of classic diesels pulling freight and passenger trains on the eastern end of the line. You’ll see exciting action along the Hoboken – Scranton main line, including activities at the classic Hoboken Terminal, commuter and freight trains on the Boonton line from Croxton to Denville, and long-distance passenger trains including the luxurious Phoebe Snow.
Locomotives featured include EMD F3, FT, E8, and GP7 units; Alco PA passenger diesels and road switchers; and the famous Faribanks-Morse Trainmasters.
THE PHOEBE SNOW depicts the history and operation of the Lackawanna’s finest passenger train. Opening with a narrated history of the railroad’s legendary Phoebe Snow advertising campaign, which featured a series of catchy jingles, the program then describes the train’s motive power and equipment.
A series of exciting full-color action scenes - accompanied by a perfectly-synchronized recreated soundtrack – show the Phoebe Snow in action on the Hoboken – Scranton main line, powered by EMD E- and F-units and also by the road’s famed Pocono-type 4-8-4 steam locomotives! Many scenic locations are covered, including Hoboken Tunnel, the Lackawanna Cutoff, Delaware Water Gap, Nay Aug Tunnel, Tunkhannock Viaduct, and many others.
