MEMORIES OF THE NEW HAVEN RAILROAD VOLUME II (DVD)
SKU: NH2/D
MEMORIES OF THE NEW HAVEN, VOLUME 2 is a nostalgic look at one of America's busiest railroads. Consisting of archive film shot from the late 1940's to the mid-1960's, you'll see the New Haven in action at a variety of scenic locations, ranging from 125th Street Station in Manhattan to Stratford, New Haven, Boston, and New York State. Opening with a parade of commuter and long-distance trains filmed in Manhattan and The Bronx, the program next offers rare coverage of a 1953 excursion featuring the New Haven's oldest electric Multiple-Unit cars. This trip originated in Grand Central Terminal and toured the New Canaan and Danbury Branches. Next, you'll tour the New Haven area, complete with an exciting visit to the Cedar Hill engine terminal, where a variety of diesel and electric locomotives were viewed. Our tour concludes with action scenes filmed at the Poughkeepsie Bridge and Maybrook Yard. MEMORIES OF THE NEW HAVEN, VOLUME 2 continues with a very rare 1948 16mm color sound film depicting the transition from steam locomotives to diesels on the undulating Maybrook line. A number of big NH steam locomotives in action are shown, and the introduction of new Alco FA freight diesels is chronicled. This fine program is a "must-have" for all New Haven fans! 45 MINUTES * COLOR AND B/W ARCHIVE FILM * MAPS * GRAPHICS * NARRATION (16MM NH SOUND FILM)
