STEAMFEST - A Festival of Steam on the Washington Central (VHS)
SKU: FST
In October 1990, the Washington Central Railroad sponsored a unique Celebration of Steam featuring three famous locomotives: Spokane, Portland & Seattle Class E-1 4-8-4 700, Southern Pacific Daylight 4-8-4 4449 and Great Western 2-8-0 51.
The two 4-8-4s traveled from Portland, Oregon to Kennewick, Washington via Burlington Northern's main line along the highly scenic Columbia River. Excursions were operated over WC's former Northern Pacific lines from Kennewick to Prosser and Grandview, and from Yakima to Ellensburg and Cle Elum via rugged Yakima Canyon.
Full coverage of all ferry runs and excursions is presented, featuring beautifully photographed trackside, pacing and night scenes. Cab ride sequences include a rare night run in the 4449. Our unique locomotive mounted ChoochCams? offer dramatic close-up views of the big Northerns in action. You'll watch in amazement as the 700 blasts through a series of four tunnels at 60 mph, as seen by cameras looking down the boiler and also back toward the cab!
Two Hours *VHS* Full Color - Stereo Soundtrack Produced by Marc S. Balkin - Narrated by Tom Moran
