C&O 614: CHESSIE WINTER COAL TRAINS (VHS)
SKU: COAL
During the month of January 1985, Chesapeake & Ohio Class J3a 4-8-4 614 made a series of revenue runs on the Chessie System between Huntington and Hinton, West Virginia. The purpose of these runs was to develop a baseline of computer data to aid in the development of a new generation of steam locomotive.
This fine documentary presents the full story of the ambitious program by American Coal Enterprises to design and build the ACE 3000. You'll also thrill to dramatic full-color coverage of the 614 pulling coal trains on a grueling series of test runs during the record-setting 1985 cold snap. Beautifully photographed trackside sequences and exciting pacing scenes are included.
The well researched and informative script is complemented by interviews with Ross Rowland, founder of American Coal Enterprises.
60 Minutes - *VHS* Color - Sound Produced by Marc S. Balkin
