RETURN OF THE RAMBLES: Reading 2102 in Excursion Service (VHS)
SKU: 2102
In 1985, famed ex-Reading Class T-1 4-8-4 2102 returned to main line service. This exciting program features excursions from Reading to Harrisburg and Jim Thorpe, sponsored by Rails Diversified, Inc. You'll see high-speed runbys at a variety of locations, including Sinking Springs and Topton, an interesting sequence at the PB&NE yard at Bethlehem, and night activities at the former Reading Shops.
The 2102 was sold to the Blue Mountain and Reading in 1986, and the program continues with scenes of the big 4-8-4 handling passenger trains over the 13-mile tourist line which extends from Temple to Harrisburg, PA. Beautifully photographed trackside scenes are complemented by a thrilling high-speed cab ride with BM&R President Andy Muller at the throttle!
Additional highlights include scenes of the 2102 hauling coal trains and special excursions over the BM&R, and coverage of the 1987 excursion from Hoboken to Port Jervis, featuring the legendary "We the People" paint scheme. A brief history of the Reading T-1 Class, illustrated by rare archival film footage is also included.
60 Minutes *VHS* Color (Some B/W Archive Film) - Stereo Soundtrack Produced by Marc S. Balkin - Written and Narrated by Jim Boyd
